Template Dilemma

I've been looking for a template for this blog. I think I've seen more than a hundred different templates but I still haven't found the one I REALLY like.

I am not really that knowledgeable when it comes to this so, yes, I'm struggling. I really wish I am like those bloggers who can change their templates easily...but I am not.

I will keep on looking though and I won't stop until I find it. For now this one will do.

Yay! After 2 days of tinkering in My Account of the GoDaddy site, I was able to finally move this blog into my own domain! And I did it all on my own...well, guided by some online search results. At least I didn't have to ask for help like last time. I was ready to do that though, ask a friend to help me convert this blog to my own domain, if I wasn't able to make it work. But I DID it...

So what's the plan now that I have 2 blogs with my own domains? Nothing definite yet. I'm still trying to see what I should to maximize the use of this new blog of mine.

Accomplishments for today:

- changing this blog to my own domain

- loads of laundry

Yeah! Now, if only the weather cooperates. I can add "weeding" in my list. Ha!

Decisions...decisions...

Working at home is something I have learned to love. I've been doing it for the last 6 years and if I have a choice, I will NOT exchange it for a job outside the house. But...

The past few weeks have been extremely slow as far as work flow is concerned. I'm certain that the economy has everything to do with it. We still get work every now and then but it usually lasts less than 4 hours.

There are thousands of WAHM/D/P like me. One company I work for has about a thousand independent contractors. That means that if that company releases work, there will be a thousand people trying to grab something. I personally don't waste my time if there's only very little work since it's just not worth the time and aggravation since it not only involves grabbing the work. We have to read manuals to be able to do it right.

But now that work is on 'hiatus', that means I am not also getting paid since I am an independent contractor. No work, no pay.

Should I start looking for something I can do outside the home? Or should I go ahead and look for other work at home opportunities? Both will be very hard...again, because of the economy. I don't even drive yet so that's another reason why I can't look for jobs outside the house.

I guess I'm stuck with looking for another WAHJ for now, eh?

How I wish our economy starts getting better instead of the other way around. Sigh...

WAHM Talks!

Yep, this blog is now officially my 'venting' machine! I have not posted much on this blog because I got too busy with ummm...life?

Right now, work is a bit [really!] slow. So I am trying to attend to the things [this blog included] I've neglected for quite a while. I promise though that this blog will be taken cared of from now on....fingers, toes & eyes crossed!

So why "WAHM talks"? I am WAHM...which stands for "Work-At-Home-Mom". Since I am rarely in the company of people my age [except for the husband of course], I wanted to have a space where I can express myself...READ: T-A-L-K....

This blog will serve as my 'water cooler'. I will post anything and everything my little heart desires in this little corner of mine.

So come on board and let's TALK!

Quick Post....

Just doing a quick post here as I have neglected this blog big time. I have been busy of course. With what??? My work at home job, of course. Well, it's only one of the many reasons why I'm busy as I have a full schedule almost everyday.

We moved not too long ago and we're still in the midst of putting stuff together. We moved but not completely. Some of our stuff are still in the old house. I have not unpacked some of the boxes and they are still in the garage. Mostly books actually but we need some of them already so I have some unpacking in the near future.

Work for one of the companies I work for is just so busy. Since I'm one of team leaders/supervisors I am needed to work at least a few hours a day...just to be around in case questions from my team arise. Other than that, I can pretty much do or work anytime I want to.

So I'm going to sign off here for now....as work is calling me again....

LiveOps...

LiveOps is one of the first companies that offers work-at-home jobs I came across with. It was in 2002 when I started looking for one and LiveOps came highly recommended by a lot of people in the chat board I frequent to.

So what is LiveOps? It's a virtual call center that hires work at home agents to take inbound calls from customers who may want order some products they either saw on TV or some kind of a brochure.

I applied for them and another virtual call center called Work At Home Agent. I made to both, which means I passed the modules that they want their agents to go through before they're hired. I even went through the 'mock-up' calls where a trainer would pretend as a customer. But...I didn't have the nerve to actually take 'live calls'. When I got hired by a coding company, I decided to turn my back on my 'almost' work-at-home job.

Anyway, just recently I read somewhere that LiveOps is being sued by some of its agents. I came across the Class Action Lawsuit against the company in the same chat board I found it.

Here's an excerpt from the Class Action Lawsuit:

The Plaintiffs allege that they and other similarly situated Home Agents (1) were improperly classified as "independent contractors" by LiveOps, Inc., (2) that LiveOps, Inc. controlled most, if not all, major aspects of the Home Agent's job, (3) that they were not paid for any training time associated with the job at LiveOps, Inc., (4) that they worked many hours without receiving the equivalent of the federal minimum wage, and, (5) that they worked more than 40 hours during some weeks and was not paid the federally required overtime rate of pay. The Plaintiffs allege that by not paying them correctly, LiveOps, Inc. violated the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1939, 29 U.S.C. §216(b).

I like exchanging links with other bloggers. I really do. But why do we exchange links with other bloggers? Is it to make the list longer and longer and even longer??

I admit it. When I started blogging, I just wanted to keep adding in my blog roll. I just wanted to collect 'blogger friends' in other words.

And that's what happened. My blogger list is now so long, I had to make another one...and I'm sure I may have missed some of those who wanted a link exchange as they get lost in the shuffle.

So now comes this question that has been burning in my head: Do you get to visit those who are in your blog roll regularly? Or do you just wait for them to come for a visit and then visit them back? How do you choose who to visit?

I have my answers to these questions but I'd rather keep them to myself for now.
